How This Started
A $19 prompt pack that changed nothing — and eventually changed everything.
Back in 2022 I bought a “mega prompt pack” off Gumroad. 300 prompts, $19, one giant PDF. I remember being genuinely excited to open it.
That lasted about ten minutes.
Prompt #12 assumed I already had a brand voice document written. Prompt #140 was for some completely different kind of business. There was no order to any of it — just prompts dumped one after another, and no way to tell which one I was even supposed to start with.
So I did what everyone does. I told myself I’d just find the ones I needed. Two hours later I was still scrolling through that PDF, copy-pasting things into ChatGPT, getting a mediocre result, tweaking it, trying again. The exact afternoon I’d bought that pack to save turned into the afternoon I lost.
I figured I’d just picked a bad one, so I bought two more. Same story. Nice covers, huge prompt counts, and absolutely nothing tying it together. Nobody had sat down and actually mapped out what a freelancer needs to do, in order, to land a client. These packs were built to look impressive on a sales page — not to be used.
At some point I stopped buying them and just started writing my own — purely for myself. I picked freelance copywriting since I understood that world, and instead of brainstorming prompts I wrote out the actual workflow first: find the client, research them, reach out, get on the call, send the proposal, onboard them, keep them. Then I built one prompt for each step. Nothing extra.
I used that version myself for a few weeks before I trusted it enough to show anyone. Then I sent it to a few freelancers I knew and asked if it matched their actual problems. Most said yes right away. One said no, and told me what her real problem was instead — so I rebuilt part of it around that.
That’s basically become the rule for everything since. Talk to real people first. Build the system in the order the work actually happens. Don’t add a prompt just because it makes the pack sound bigger.
That’s HubAIPrompt now. Not the biggest library out there — the most organized one. Built the way I wish that first $19 pack had been.
